The Perseverance of Chris Tucker

Chris Tucker

Eddie Murphy's movie flop at the box office.
Chris Tucker's don't.

Cuba hasn't made good money for years.
Chris Tucker still does.

How does he do it?

(1998)--------------------(2001)-------------------(2007)

Chris Tucker hasn't made a non-Rush Hour film since 1998.
Don't believe me? Go check his filmography.

It's all about supply and demand.
Apparently, someone was demanding Chris Tucker.
He was smart and refused to supply that demand.

Now he makes 20 million dollars per movie.
He makes a movie, chills until his money's gone, and then calls up Jackie Chan.

Rush Hour 3 earned him another 20 million dollars plus 20% of the gross.

That's how you do it, fellas.
Lock into a successful franchise and squeeze out every last drop of success.

If your next post like this is about Martin Lawrence, I think I might just lose it.

Step away from the failing comedic black actors...

Paying only marginal attention, I think I learned that Tucker actually planned this out. He knows he can just show up for a payday every few years and sees nothing wrong with it. I think (not sure) that he's actually been doing some humanitarian work in between movies.

This is all well and good, but couldn't he at least make GOOD movies every few years?

I had a longer version of this post that talked about his humanitarian and charity work.

I was torn while writing this because of all the stuff you wrote. He isn't a failing actor because he's still very successful. However, when he does make movies, they're not that great.

When all the chips are in, I'm pro-Tucker. Anyone who can use his position and wealth to help people is fine in my book.

That picture of Chris Tucker up top kinda disturbs me.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with being plump, but it's weird when it seems to happen over night. Plus, it seems with the skinny beard that he's trying to hide it.

I had the same experience when I saw Lawrence Fishburn on Tavis Smiley the other night and it looked like he gained 40 pounds.
