I've been on a PODCAST kick lately.  Here are five (film-themed) podcasts that I'm head over heels for.

Natsukashi

The tagline says it all.  Nostalgia & Film 101.  Through Natsukashi, I've met (recorded with) numerous actors, screenwriters, and directors from my favorite films.

 

The Simon and Joe Film Show

These two guys are great. Simon and Jo have embarked on "public podcasting" or "pubpodding" as I like to call it.  Give this show one listen and you'll be hooked.  Their episodes are broken up well, the hosts are extremely entertaining, and they aren't afraid to give He Shot Cyrus some shout-outs.

The Dark of the Matinee

One of my favorite blogs has ventured into audio recordings.  I wholly recommend Episode 11 (w/Fletch of Blog Cabins) where the two discuss Desert Island DVDs, How to Train Your Dragon, and a movie I didn't care for, I Love You Phillip Morris.  These episodes fly by while you listen.  Thumbs Up.

Filmspotting

Filmspotting sets the bar.  If you haven't listened to these guys yet, you're a schmuck in the schmuckiest sense of the word.

Excitement! Wonder! Internet!

For true film lovers, "Making Of" featurettes and official commentary tracks aren't always enough. Sometimes, you've just got to track down someone who actually worked on the film and ask them all the questions that've been bugging you. Months and months and months ago, Rob Rector and I got in contact through The Lamb and I've been recording podcasts with my favorite Hollywood celebrities ever since.

Rob started Natsukashi with the intent to explore the connection between Nostalgia and Film. Why did we like certain films when we were younger? What do we think about them now?

Here's the exciting part. Rob is currently taking requests from bloggers who want to record an episode. E-mail him, leave a comment, train a pigeon. However you want to do it, let Rob know that you're interested.

Scarytown

The Frequent Posting ball has once again been dropped. But I have a really good excuse this time, not like "but I'm writing my theeeeesis" or "I'm getting maaaaaaarried". I haven't been updating He Shot Cyrus but I have been writing--a webseries pilot!

Scarytown went into production on Saturday with a talented group of actors and crew members. We secured a Red to shoot with (the same camera used on District 9, The Informant, The Lovely Bones, and Che) and from what I've heard, it looks amazing. I wasn't able to travel down to L.A. for the shoot but I spent the time fleshing out the outlines for the next eleven episodes. Our director, Layne, and producer, Aaron, are getting ready to shop it around to different movie companies/agents/other contacts they've made down there.

My next job is to finish the series outline and the next few scripts. During that time, I'll try my hardest to post more often here. Also, keep an eye on Natsukashi. I just completed a podcast with Glenn Shaddix (Otho from Beetlejuice) and have a few more coming up in the next few weeks. Thanks for checking in with He Shot Cyrus and being patient with me as I try to keep up.

On This Christmas Evening, I Bring Thee Great News

Happy Holidays, everyone.

If you've noticed my posting frequency has been a little lower lately, you must have a knack for noticing the obvious. Life has been very busy lately. Holidays. Travelling. Wedding plans. Movie watching. Et cetera. Things will slow down mid-January. Until then, I hope you'll check out a few exciting things on the intertubes and let me know what you think.

First, the latest episode of Natsukashi is up. Rob and I discuss one of my childhood favorites: Return from Witch Mountain. It's pretty funny and definitely worth your 27.4MB.

Second, Whitney just wrote about her thoughts on Christmas, family, and film. I can definitely relate to her feelings. Today, I watched The Tale of Despereaux with my mom. Marley and Me ended up being SOLD OUT so the bullet was dodged until another day.

Third, and I'm damn proud of this one, I am the newest blogger for FILM THREAT! That's right, the Film Threat. So far, I've written two posts: Deleting a Film from History and Three Scenes I Love: Christmas Movies. Things are starting to look up. Merry Christmas, me.
